Stop The Rot does not collect any data. Everything stays on your iPhone.
Effective 16 September 2026
Nothing. Stop The Rot has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking. The app does not send any information to us or to anyone else.
Stop The Rot uses Apple's Screen Time framework to measure time in the apps and websites you choose, and to block them when a limit is reached. You give permission for this when you set up the app, and you can remove it at any time in Settings, then Screen Time, then Apps With Screen Time Access.
Apple's framework gives the app anonymous identifiers for the apps and websites you pick, not their names. App names, usage figures and charts are displayed by Apple's framework on your device and are never sent off it.
Your settings are stored on your iPhone so the app, its Home Screen widget and its Screen Time extensions can work. This includes your limits, Blocked Hours, Daily Goals, the apps and websites you've chosen, and a record of which days you stayed under your limit. This information is not backed up to or synced with any server we operate.
Warnings before a block and Daily Goal notifications are created on your iPhone. They are not sent through any server.
You can choose to share an image of your monthly calendar using the iOS share sheet. Nothing is shared unless you do this, and the image goes only where you send it.
The app includes links to a podcast episode on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. If you open them, those services' own privacy policies apply.
Deleting Stop The Rot from your iPhone removes all of its data.
Stop The Rot is designed for adults managing their own phone use. It is not directed at children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
